The NCSS FASSE Awards offer national recognition for educators who are advancing the field of social studies through creativity, dedication, and innovation. Celebrate excellence in social studies education and research by nominating yourself, a mentor, or a colleague in one of our many award categories.

Apply for a #NCSS2025 First Timer Scholarship

National Council for the Social Studies is pleased to offer a limited number of registration scholarships to enable early and mid-career educators, from diverse ethnic groups, especially historically marginalized communities and/or those who teach in economically disadvantaged school districts, to attend the NCSS Annual Conference. 

Teachers from across the United States and its territories are welcome to apply. The deadline for First-Timer Scholarship applications is September 5, 2025.  If you feel that you may qualify for this scholarship, we encourage you to apply as early as possible, as applying early increases your likelihood of securing a scholarship. Registration Closes Today for Free Online Institute for School Leaders

Facing History and Ourselves invites school leaders to this July 22 half-day online institute that dives into creating a more equitable school culture in ways that align to your current goals for students, teachers, and community building. Attendees will discuss the many factors that impact a student's school experience and share practical ways leaders can mitigate disparities by fostering a community of care. This institute will also provide time for collegial dialogue with fellow school leaders across the country to problem-solve, collaborate, and share best practices for creating a strong school culture, including the use of the organization's new Equity Reflection Tool.

This event is eligible for four-hours of professional development credit for participation. Registration is free, but closes today, July 15, 2025. Learn more.

Free Live-Streamed Lectures from the Gilder Lehrman Institute

From July 20 to July 31, 2025, the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History will be offering live-streamed lectures from five teacher seminars in person. Subjects include Statesmanship in American History, the Cold War, and Reframing Lincoln. Registration is free, and professional development credit will be issued based on attendance. Learn more.
